Good point Donald. Several years ago when I planted
my first batch of Louisiana's I did so in a 55 gallon
barrel that had been cut in thirds. I wanted to be
able to move this pot so I went looking for peanuts to
put in the bottom of the pot that were NOT
biodegradable. Believe it or not there was only one
place here in town that I could purchase non
biodegradable peanuts. The potting idea worked and I
raised LA's in there for four years and was able to
move the pot much easier with it half full of peanuts
instead of dirt.
I wonder how many of the peanuts we are shuttling
back and forth (I save and reuse mine) are
biodegradable???
