Donald,
Don't we all have this problem with seedlings. It's so easy to pollinate and
germinate. Then I start looking at my seedling pots and go "ouch". For
bearded I keep the original pots 2 years. Does anyone keep them longer?. But
my Signa ones I'll prob keep over 3 years. But then I plant into 13" pots
with 4-5 seedlings per pot and keep them in a pot for at least a year before
transplanting. That's when it start's getting tricky, as I'd have about 150
crosses per year plus Signa ones. When I plant out a cross with 70-100
seeds, part of me doesn't really want a high germination rate, no matter how
good the cross is.
My first blooms from last years germination are just emerging. Some nice
Scented Bubbles stuff, I'm not that keen on breeding blues. But Scented
Bubbles is such a good pollen parent that I can't help myself, over browns
it gives nice purples. Got my first flounced seedling from it.
Got some PCN seeds fron Ghio this year, arrived early Sept, which he advised
was prob too late for our seasons. However I soaked and planted a portion
and right on 6 weeks they're all popping up. Fortunaely we're still having
light frosts, good for germination if not the blooms.
