It's true - the comprehension bit.
I nearly fell off my chair when I read that Nick ended up with 6 yards of the
stuff. I only know the concept of a yard through a similar mishap/experience.
One year I was redoing an area of the backyard of a house I was renovating and
decided I needed a couple of yards of crushed granite for the space. I was
quite amused when a dumptruck pulled up and dropped the load a considerable
distance away. A day or so later and with more aches, pains and blisters than I
could count, I was considerably less amused.

Reminds me of a cartoon I clipped from a newspaper. Suburban block, with
house, and driveway ..... Nice car parked in driveway ..... enormous pile of
topsoil dumped at end of driveway, blocking the exit ...... sign planted in
pile of soil reads "free soil - take as much as you want".
The caption was "It is difficult for the casual gardener to comprehend the
dimensions of 10 yards of top soil"
I have been meaning to pin it up on the noticeboard, at the local garden
supplies place.
Cheers, Jan
