For the second year in a row, Iris lacustris is in flower at the end of
October/early November - last year it was the 6th November. This
species seems to flower three or four times a year. It starts very
early in the spring; on one warm day this spring, I had 14 flowers on
one plant. During the summer, I often notice another few flowers and,
now, late in the autumn it is at it again. The only problem is that the
flowers are often hidden by the falling autumn leaves and one must
search for them. I have yet to find a seed pod!
I also have a MB flowering, may be Red Lion, during the last week.
Ian, in Ottawa where they are predicting a long warm autumn. It is
about 16C today.
