Re: HYB:Side Branch Anomaly

<<<Speaking as a non-hybridizer, one who is just a gardener, I vote for
the introduction of the beautiful bloom, good growing, wonderful flower in
the garden iris, even though it will never triumph on the show bench or win
a Dykes medal. I take stalks to our show every year, and every year I hurt
a little bit when I cut a beautiful stalk out of the garden and show it.
The beauty is gone from the garden, where it might shine for 2 or more
weeks, to perish all too quickly in a vase, if one even brings it home from
the show. Bring on the garden beauty that is there for many to see in its
natural setting, where I can appreciate it many times. The garden is the
greatest show of all, not the bench, so don't hesitate to give us the gem
that won't be mounted on a show bench!

As a lurker on this list, an amateur grower of iris and dahlias, and an
individual who has no interest in hybridizing, I AGREE with Arnold!!! The
garden is a wonderful place to introduce people to all kinds of flowers
(side branching or no), and is where I prefer to spend my time...I would
proudly display this iris!
