Mary Dunn, well known hybridizer and one of the best show judges and
exhibitors I have known, preferred show varieties that opened first a side
bud and then a terminal. She felt the stalk was more balanced because the
side bloom would be somewhat larger than the terminal. The other way round
the terminal would be larger and, to her, not balanced.
