Re: CULT: toxic Canada thistles?

Hello Northerners and Easterners,
We have many problems here in Southern Arizona, where only two days in September were below 100 degrees F. and the average high was 105, however Canada thistle is not one of them. My battle Bermuda grass, nut grass and spurge takes more energy than I have. I don't need any more weeds. We have Russian thistle, called Tumbleweed if it allowed to mature, but it's no problem, a couple of whacks and it's gone. What does this stuff look like. Could any one take its picture and post it to Iris-Photos so people could recognize it and get a head start on eradication. It's sure to show up here eventually like fire ants and Africanized bees.
Francelle Edwards, finally October and under 100 degrees!

  Hi Laurie

That is what appears to happen in my garden too. I have some irises in
  tall grass that
will just do fine and even bloom, but the iris that have thistle
  companions have a hard
  time growing.
