CULT: Weeds!

Oh Yeah! I've got burdock all over this farm, too - along with 4 dogs, 7
cats, and 5 horses. I got so tired of pulling burrs out of the cats, I
sent Joe out on a seek & destroy mission this summer to hack down every
burdock he could find within a few hundred feet of the house. There's
another weed I haven't yet identified that creates about 1" long,
brown-black, needle-like (and incredibly sharp) seeds or seed pods. I
HATE those things! Our old Moondog got one stuck in her eye a few years
ago, requiring several weeks of antibiotic treatment. They fall off the
animal's coats into the carpet where they sometimes become embedded in
the souls of my bare feet. OUCH! The plant that creates these little
monsters has a very open growth habit, is a couple of feet tall, and has
tiny, bright orange flowers. Anybody have any idea what I'm talking
about?
