My experience with paperwhite narcissi outdoors is that they make leaves in
the fall, which persist through the winter (if it does not get too cold),
then bloom in the spring, after which the leaves rapidly decline. This is
quite different from the sequence in "forcing" these bulbs indoors, but
that's what happened to some I planted outdoors afterwards. I should add
that most winters the foliage was killed, and they have only bloomed again
once, after an unusually mild winter.
