LATE AMETHYST was a variant of I. hoogiana, selected by Lloyd Austin.  Years 
ago, it was part of my hoogiana colony -- it looked like the photo Austin 
published and crossed readily with other hoogiana clones, so I never had 
reason to question its authenticity.  

More recently, however, I have encountered imposters.  One is apparently an 
RC, with a larger flower and a distinct signal.  One was clearly an arilbred.

Unfortunately, I think what you have acquired is an imposter.
