Two quickly come to mind:
The CHECKLIST OF SPECIES IRIS published by SIGNA. [Does anyone have
up-to-date information about price and availability?]
The Clive Innes' THE WORLD OF IRIDACEAE. Probably out-of-print, although I
haven't checked on it lately. One of my favorites because of the way it
relates species described under different classification systems down through
the years.
For fun, of course, I'd have to add Baker's 1892 work: HANDBOOK OF THE
IRIDEAE. I have the 1972 reprint. And I may well think of others later....
This doesn't really fit the category, but because I know of no comprehensive
guide to the arillate species I've posted a cross-reference list on my web
site:
http://www.geocities.com/~smcallister/library/species-sec/species-xref.html
It doesn't include descriptions, but if you are looking for an older name like
I. urmiensis (Hoog, 1900) it does provide the reclassification in the Mathew
system now used by the Aril Society. The catch is that many of the names
from the old ASI system still can't be matched to botanical descriptions --
so it remains a work-in-progress.
