CULT: too much increase?

I have a bed of six huge (did I say huge? they are
monstrous!!) rhizomes from Cooley's which were first
planted August 2001. None of them bloomed this spring,
so I have not seen flowers yet.

When dividing clumps from my other beds, I looked at these,
and saw that they have four, six, and some even *eight*-fold
increase !! they seem totally packed, shoulder to shoulder.

Do they need some thinning?

** OR **

Will they flower okay? if so, I'm going to be
up to my eyeballs in iris next spring (what a nice
problem to have), and will surely have to divide
and move these clumps next year (after only
one season of blooming?)
