I have been blessed with minimal rot problems, and the few occurrences seem
so random that I am at a loss to generate theories. I have used the
Clorox/scrubbing power remedies and in every case but one have saved the
cultivar. The one occasion was during a wet spell last spring when I was away
for several weeks and when I saw the limp leaves surrounded by healthy
plants, it was too late.
The cultivar that I lost was one I particularly enjoyed Intermed. ALADIN'S
FLAME (if you will permit this less than technical description of green/gold
with blue beard) which I got from Aitken's. They are no longer growing it.
Does anyone know a source, or have it and willing to do a swap, I'd be most
appreciative.
After our much needed heavy rains, during our dry season, my iris are
thriving and multiplying.
Earlier I offered Dahlia seed, which I serendipitously planted two years ago
and discover they come true, and they have provided good shelter for my iris
which have thrived underneath these 3" - 4" feet prolific bloomers. Anyone
who wants seed, please send me a SASE to 12 Westridge Drive, Asheville, NC
28803 -- they are all going to be mixed, but specify whether you want seed
from a yellow or a red toned plant, and at least a slight majority of your
seedlings should go your way.
