There is so much free information on the web, especially in europe, why does
America want to sell everything? Can't the society provide an online
checklist system for registrations from 1939 to now?
No offense people but what did my dues go to pay for? A National symposium a
few go to? Large growers?
I stopped being a member because the bulletin is mainly advertising, which is
nice to know your peers and I try to buy from several little places as well
as the big one. But really did nothing , told me little so I stopped spending
my money on it. Maybe in a year I will join again, to check out the ads.
So how do you find pedigrees without being a member or spending a fortune for
each years registraions which will now cost about 150$ for the set. And who
really uses them anyway? unless the eople want to find an iris that doesn't
rot. Now, there was some discussion about a list circulated of easy rotters
but not generally published on this list that i could find. So if we have
rotters lets eliminate them. they do not deserve to be registered. Shouldn't
registration have other requirements : like the rhizome can survive? Or do
we just want to sell a rhizome to the unsuspecting public so we can stay in
business.
for example specifically : the America kennel club charges you, the consumer,
to trace a parentage of a dog. Go to a european website and they are listed
for free. America cares less about the dissemination of information than it
does about the buck. Time for America to do somethings for free for people.
Also European websites are way more advanced graphically and user friendly
than ours. Whats up with that? I thought we were world leaders.
So i know it is a lot of work to catorgorize, and print/ publish etc but what
is my dollar going for?
