AIS: CT Iris Society Meeting Oct 19th

Hello Everyone,

Lynn Markham from Massachusetts will be the guest speaker at the
October 19th Connecticut Iris Society meeting. Lynn is an
accomplished hybridizer of bearded iris, working primarily with
Border Bearded iris, Tall Bearded iris, I. aphylla species, and
crosses if I. aphylla into her "modern" BB lines. Lynn has a strong
interest in how to utilize knowledge of gentics to explore the
creation of improved iris varieties. Her explanations in
combination with slides of her developments will enhance our
appreciation of what irises are and what they have the potential to
become.

Lynns TB PEIGNOIR, an elegant pink self, won the 2002 Warbuton
Medal. The Warburton Medal is voted by Region 1 judges to a recent
iris introduction by a Region 1 hybridizer which has proven to be
most outstanding in gardents around New England.

The meeting starts at 1:00pm with the program starting about
2:00pm. It is held at the Meriden CT Public Library.

If you need directions or additinal information please either
send me email, or visit www.irisgarden.org and follow the link to
the Connecticut Iris Society.

Best Regards,
Michael Zuraw
