In the past there have been numerous testimonials on this list concerning the residual strength of seemingly dried-out rhizomes.  I have put in some pretty sad looking specimens, too, and had them grow despite their appearance of death.  So, at $1.25 for 2, it ought to be worth a try, at least for a few packages, to try to get them to grow.  If you get even one to spring (no pun intended) back to life you have more than $1.25 worth of iris.  Besides, think of the fun you'll have.
