Dial Cocktail for Soft Rot

Hi again:
Found the article that discusses soft rot treatments. It's in the
April, 2001 Bulletn (#321), entitled 'Dial Away Rot' It goes in-
depth and explains everything ;)

Also, here's a quote from the April, 2000 Bulletin (#317): 'Iris
Borer, Verbena Bud Moths' by Don and Ginny Spoon regarding the
Miracle Gro in the cocktail (or you can use Peter's): "The nutrients
are essential so the plants can repair their damage and rebuild their
own antibacterial defenses." lT to two gallons water isn't enough to
stress the plants. I've used this mixture for two years and had no
problems with it only happy and healthy plants! If it weren't for
Dial, I'd have already given up on irises. Also, you don't normally
need to do it more than once a season...it lasts, and is very
satisfying to see the rhizomes become firm again and begin to sprout
healthy fans. I'd say I've had to repeat the treatment less than 10%
of the time - and in those cases it as most likely because I didn't
remove all the rot in the first place!

I mentioned the above in an earlier post but it hasn't shown up yet.
In case it's lost, I think I covered everything. To Amy in Dallas -
squirt undiluted Dial liquid soap on your waterlogged iris...AFTER,
of course, you scrape off all the mushy 'rot.' This should save
them. And, like Al, I keep a (1 gallon milk) jug full of the mixture
handy.
