No Betty, I haven't. The RR I've done has mostly been planting and
watching things die (or not), which is just more anecdotal observation &
not worth much outside my own garden.

This year's big 'experiment' consisted of dumping a lot of manufactured
sand (crushed limestone) on three rotting RINGO plants from California.
They were all in pots, in partial shade, potting mix was ~1/3 coarse
creek sand, 1/3 potting mix from a local greenhouse (peaty fluffy
organic mix that looks like ProMix, but they make their own), 1/3
screened garden soil with a very small amount of 6-12-12, alfalfa
pellets, & limestone.

They all stopped rotting (but it also finally stopped pouring down rain
and cooled off a bit). The increase on all three wasn't affected, &
each kept part of its terminal green and growing, but the rhizome
underneath the growing part is hollow. More rot in spring, I'll bet.

If the crop of seeds from this year result in some really super tough
foundation stock for me, I will be very interested in doing some real
experiments in an effort to keep fussy plants of 'better' breeding stock
happy enough to produce viable pollen.

I have plenty of IMMORTALITY, most of which rarely blooms - since it
does sometimes rot, & I'd sure like to be able to get more pods from it,
maybe I can plan some experiments next year. That sounds like fun.
Mulch X fertilizer X water X lime. ....hmmm...At least 3 reps each...
that's a minimum of nearly 100 plants if I use three levels each
treatment! Not sure I have that much room! <LOL>

I'll try something or other. Remind me.
