Susan, unless some color is showing, it probably will not bloom if cut. If
you have a basket, like a peach basket, that you could put over it -- if the
stalk is too high, prop the basket up on something. Also, if you have an old
woolen (and it must be woolen, I understand) sock, you can put that on the
bud, because wool does not absorb moisture like cotton, etc will. But again
you must take it off before it gets warm in the a.m. I understand your
