well, Linda, thanks for voicing the same thought I had had, about the early
germinants simply being of the ilk that would bloom earlier in the season.
I wonder if anyone has actually tracked any of that.

Can anyone lay out for me a timeline from say the cross to germination. (I'm
limited to e'mail these days or I'ld try to find an answer in the
archives)...

As I understand it, from what I remember or printed out;

cross is made
8-12 weeks pod matures and dries and cracks,
seeds harvested
seeds dried roughly 1 week
seeds soaked roughly one week
cold treatment 8 - 12 weeks
germination (give or take some room temp days...Linda's second season
germinants...)

Does that sound about like what everybody is doing?

So then, an early germinant would be seeds that germinated in under 6 mo
from cross?  does that sound even remotely right?
and I'm not even talking about when they bloom.....
