Re: Re: HYB: cross to seedlings

Lol Linda,

it must be something in the air, uh, er sumthin' I meant to say 'your
second season germinants"

Speaking of fresh seed, I have some feul for that fire. I harvested all of
my pods (4) this year at exactly 8 weeks. I wanted to move the plants and
didn't like the idea of the unknown effects on the pods. All of my seeds
were still white or nearly white, when harvested. I did not dry them, nor
did I soak them per se (I think they all spent a couple days in the tank
while I was waffling). I did chill them, but they only received about six
weeks of continuous chilling, after that it has been in the frindge when I
think about it out when I think about it.. usually between 3 days and a
week. After the first germinant two weeks ago they haven't been
refrigerated. So far only four germinants.

But, I will hypothesize that the seeds can be harvested at the still white
stage and still be perfectly fine. I will also hypothesize that failing to
harvest them before the pod splits may even allow them to develop the
germination inhibitors that y'all are working so hard to get rid of.... But
what do I know? I've only germinated a whopping 4 seeds so far <g> I'm
gonna test it out... What else have I got to do? lol....

christian,
ky
