Hi all,
I finally got a little late rebloom here in central NM this year. A small
clump of 'Lady Emma' (I think) has two stalks. The two first flowers opened
two days ago, but none are open today). I didn't even notice the stalks (I
had given up). I see now that there is another plant, not mapped, which has
buds that will be open tomorrow. It is not one that has rebloomed for me yet,
and I'll have to figure it out when the flowers are open. In bud it looks
like a mostly white plicata. I didn't think I planted any IB's in that spot,
but that's the size of the stalk and buds. It appears there's no more this
year, but maybe there are some other new stalks still hiding down in the
leaves. 'Eleanor Roosevelt' always reblooms, but not this year so far, maybe
it's shooting for Thanksgiving? It is still a bit warmer than usual, so far
no nights have dropped below 50F and only a couple of days haven't topped 80F.
It was trying to rain on those cool days, but didn't do too well at it. We
did get one three inch thunderstorm on a hot afternoon a couple weeks ago, so
there is a bit of green on the hills for the first time since last summer
(barely).
So, the nasty extra hot and dry summer didn't stop all rebloom, just most.
Dave
