I did a little more checking, because I remembered another Lilac that
reblooms regularly. The dwarf species Syringa meyeri is reliable, but I
don't know how far north this behavior extends. I looked it up, and almost
all listings actually mention that it is a rebloomer!
Got home after dark last night and forgot to check which Iris is reblooming
behind the house. Darn-it! It'll probably be closed by tonight, and I
won't be home for a few days after that.
