rebloom

Well, I got back home this evening, and there was a nice large white flower
open behind the house, so I didn't miss it entirely. That white bud I noticed
in the dark the other evening appears to be 'Immortality'. I guess I thought
it might be a plicata because I didn't look close, and that's all I remembered
planting there. Checking back, I did also plant an 'Immortality' (my first)
in that area last year; didn't flower this spring. [never put off mapping
your plantings, rats love to carry the labels away!]

One question, just to help confirm the ID; is 'Immortality' strongly sweet
smelling? This one smells almost as sweet as some of my I. pallida cultivars,
but not grapey like those. It almost reminds me of Lilacs (need to compare it
tomorrow morning with that Lilac that is flowering). It seems this white is
trying to be a BB this fall, maybe because of the stress of a hot dry summer?
Or, is 'Immortality' just rather shorter than listed normally?

Also open, three more flowers of 'Lady Emma'. Plus, I guessed right, there
were indeed stalks hiding down in those 'Eleanor Roosevelt' fans. They are
about 10 inches tall today. So, if the weather holds like this maybe I'll
actually get a fall rebloom season this year after-all. Still no highs below
75 F, and no nights below 50 F, plus we had some more rain a few days ago.
It's getting awfully late in the year though, could switch to winter any time
now.

Dave
