OT: Cranes, sign of fall

I know this has nothing to do with Iris, but thought I'd revisit this one
briefly.  The Sandhill Cranes have arrived in central NM.  I saw the first
flocks flying over with their usual raucus squaking on Sunday morning.
Lots of them, probably thousands.  Very impressive.  Most were probably
heading for Bosque del Apache.  None of them stopped off in the alfalfa
field around my greenhouse, but they'll be plenty there soon enough.

They were flying over Iris.

There's a bit of color in some of the trees now, but most are still green.
Some of my shrubs are turning color, and if they ever get big enough,
they'll some day make a nice backdrop for the rebloomers.
