Re: Aust rainfall map (I'm getting a bit off Iris here)

Thanks Colleen. This is an interesting web site, with lots of good
information; very informative about the over-all climate of Australia.

The one thing I can't find on this site is the very thing I am looking for,
and that I can never seem to find, and this is the extremes. There are lots
of "averages", "means" and "percentiles", but what I really want to learn is
the absolute extremes, the very coldest ever recorded for given locations, and
(not as important) the very hottest. These are the extremes that a plant from
any given location must endure over the long haul in order to survive and
reproduce there, and these numbers tend to be the best indicators of what the
limits are for a given species of plant from a given location. Of course
other factors are important too, especially drought or wet tolerance and soil
preferences, but these things are easier to determine.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks again,

Dave
