Linda -- Thanks for your question. Winterberry Gardens (Don and Ginny
Spoon) will be introducing my RANKS OF BLUE, CAREFREE DAYS and LAVENDER
INTERLUDE in 2004. The prices will be determined between now and then.
Winterberry Gardens is also growing about a dozen of my registered seedlings
for evaluation or to build up stock. After a good deal of consideration, I
have decided to introduce an occasional iris directly, such as TORCHLIGHT
PARADE (seedling I-92), which is of WABASH and variegata parentage, since
there is a small but discernable group of iris lovers who like these older
forms. I posted a photo of TP to the list on October 23. I don't know what
the list policy is on mentioning prices, so I won't. If anyone is
interested, you can send me a message off-list.
Here's a photo of BULBUL AMEER (sdlg 983O11), which I'm using for breeding
but am not sure is distinctive enough for introduction. It's sibling, THAT
CERTAIN SOMETHING (sdlg 983O12), however, is just awaiting buildup of enough
stock. I'd be interested in list members' comments.
I don't have a really good photo of RANKS OF BLUE at the moment, and don't
want to post a poor one. It's a product of G952N5: (HOLY NIGHT x BEST BET)
x G95W2: (HOLY NIGHT x SWEETER THAN WINE), a cross that has produced a wide
variety of pretty seedlings.
From time to time, I'll post photos of some of the seedlings that I'm
considering for introduction or that I just find interesting for further
development, since I see that we are getting frank opinions expressed. My
gardens are located far off the beaten path, and the opportunity to get more
fellow irisarians' appraisals will be appreciated. -- Griff
