Chrome - "Chrome being my definition of an extrememly saturated and BRIGHT
yellow! LOL!"
Funny, real chrome (the metal stuff we call chrome anyway) is gray. It can
be highly reflective shiny gray, but still gray. Most people think of the
shiny "crhome" plating as the color chrome (at least I always have). I
never would associate the word with yellow, but I do see "chrome yellow"
written a lot.
Never bothered to look up the dictionary diffinition, but I think the term
"chrome yellow" comes from a compound (lead chromite) that is (was) used in
yellow pigments. There are "chrome green", "chrome orange", and chrome
violet as well; all based on pigments. I think the word "chrome" could
imply "bright" or "pure" when used with any color as well (?).
Sort of odd that the actual chromium stuff is grey, since the word chrome,
chroma, etc. means color; perhaps because most chromium compounds are
brightly colored.
