Arnold, I found the following comment interesting, and I agree with you.

philosophy on that score.  I don't happen to subscribe to the "survive by
itself or else" way of thinking, especially when it's so easy to treat the
disease."

In addition, some of the strongest growing Irises I have started to rot
right after I first planted them, and if I'd have "let it go", I would not
be enjoying them now.  Plus, I think "letting it go" is a disaster waiting
to happen, since every one you "let go" is a potential source for further
future infection.  The rot should be cleaned up as quick as it is found;
or, you might suffer the consequences later.
