All this talk of Frank Adams got me to looking for pic on the web.  I 
found this page on Accent (ExtravaganzaX Frank Adams)  Buss 1952.

It's a French site, this page is in Engligh though.  Great resolution. Is 
malvidin  possibly from variegata?
