TB: REB: wierd appendages?

Betty, a bloom on your RETURNING CHAMELEON opened yesterday. Very
lovely.

The plant has obviously suffered torment of some sort - stalk is
corkscrewed all over the place, part parallel to the ground, plus the
bloom has some <very> wierd flounces.

It looks normal from the outside, but while chasing cucumber beetles, I
noticed 5 (!) tiny flounces <inside/on top of the back at the base of>
the style arms, right in the very center of the bloom where there is
usually nothing. I will try to get a photo.

Looking into the flower from above, they look like they are part of
style arm tissue, little 'stalks' about an inch or so tall, with tiny
little flounces on the ends.

I have never seen anything like this before. Very bizarre.
