Linda, that is a new one for me.  

It does sound a bit 'stressed!'  It's common for it to have three stalks 
coming from one rhizome in the fall.  Generally they aren't twisted.  At least, 
none that I've seen before.  Let these kids leave home, and sometimes they 
misbehave!  

I look forward to the picture.
