Re: HYB: Purple leaf bases


I though it would be interesting to separate one cross of seedlings by  
purple leaf bases and green leaf bases. I did this when they were planted out at  
about two to four inches in height. I looked at the base of each seedling very  
carefully and segregated they accordingly. Now at 24 to 30 inches in height I 
 find that about 20% of those which I thought were green leaf based turned 
out to  now have purple leaf bases. All of the ones I classified as having 
purple leaf  bases at planting time still do.
