Re: HYB: mixing colors, Renown sdlngs

Everything!   As long as the purple is inhibited by something <g>  Which
is how I got a pink seedling by crossing a purple amoena with a muddy
yellow.  I knew the purple amoena was at least half pink, will know by
spring if it's 3/4 pink.

Low seed set and poor germination on last year's crosses:
CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE - total of 9 seeds, 2 germinated, one survives - not
too great
IC1 - 37 seeds, 3 germinated, none survived.  I expect to get more
germination from this cross this winter.
STUNNING SERENADE/STUNNING (while trying to answer your question, I
discovered I made <both> crosses last year - labels may be totally
messed up by now...sigh) - 55 seeds from STUNNING, 53 from SS, 6
germinated from the two combined, 5 survived - these look pretty good,
but were late or small, so not able to line them out in time to get
enough growth for spring bloom.  Just lined them out a few weeks ago.
SUNNYSIDE DELIGHT- 9 seeds, 2 germinated, one died.  By far the
strongest of the group - big mama fan and increases already.

Sorry, Betty, not as far along with these as I thought...The cross with
STUNNING this year produced about 100 seeds, and some of last year's
crosses with it have had good germination.  We shall see...

Like you, I've not been really inspired by RENOWN...
