Here's a suggestion so youy can see your iris bloom.
When I have come upon a situation like yours and badly want to see the bloom, get pollen or pollentate on a rhizome I dig it up and plant it in a moderate sized pot with a well drqained potting soil. Just be sure to dig it up plenty of nice long roots on it, but still separate it from the rest of the clump. There is no need to dig up the whole clump. Then leave it outside potted up and bring it inside on those frosty nights (or put it in a cold frame) and put back outside in the morning.
It should still bloom ok for at least a few flowers and they may not be as large as would normally be. It is better than nothing though.
You can plant it back in the garden in the Spring.

The weather report says frost this week. There is a chance I won't see
Joan's Pleasure bloom. I'm looking for a "mystery" iris. I'd hoped Joan was it.
Unfortunately, it is not.
I'd like to thank everyone that has taken time out of their busy lives to
hunt up and post pictures of Joan's Pleasure, Renown, etc. AND those who have
answered the endless stream of questions! Some more than once! I'm forever
indebted to your gracious and kind indulgence.
Iris people are the best! May we never quit learning!
Thanks again!
