Hey gang,
TOTAL RECALL is on it's fourth bloom cycle this year (May, July, Sept, Oct) but this stalk hasn't been damaged by bugs or weather so I decided to enjoy it as a cutting.
As I was bringing the stalk to the house I noticed that the branching is.. unusual.. or maybe just unfamiliar to me.
Do you remember when we used to graph things on the X and Y axis in math class? Well, on this stalk of TR the top two branches and spur, and the terminal are all on one axis-let's just say the X axis. The lowest branch however, is a full and exact 90* from the others- on the Y axis. I suppose this would be clearest if you looked down on the stalk from above. It is quite obvious if you merely look at it from one side and then the other. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this doesn't count as the candleabra branching that is supposed to be desireable on the show bench.
Why shouldn't this type of bloom placement be just as desireable?
At the full 90* it adds an entirely new dimension. And I can just imagine what a stalk of flat blooms would look like with this placement.. scrumptious.
Maybe I can convince Hubby to borrow the camera so I can post a pic, should have two maybe three blooms open in the next couple days.
