Re: REF: List Subject Tags and Nutsedge

That was five sprays, each two weeks apart.

Last year I selected two clumps of iris. One a vigorous grower and one an average grower.

Then I soaked those clumps with Basagran 5 time every two weeks. They did not grow well and leaf edges turned brown. This spring the grew fine like they had never been sprayed. Neither bloomed.I believe that was from lack of reserve build up from year before.

This year had clumps of Nutsedge in a seedling bed and asparagus bed. They were sprayed one time and lightly compared to the test spray. Nut grass was killed above and belowground. No sign of harm to seedlings or asparagus.

Great stuff but make sure to get their spreader sticker.

Pat in Dallas lost her tags. Here is a link to where she will--or should-- find them.

As for the nutsedge, it is a comparatively common problem, but I do not
know how many species may be in around, or how many regulations. There are chemical controls which can be sprayed over irises. One used to be called Manage.
More recently I've heard Basagran mentioned. Check with your local coop
extension office for the latest on managing this pest. Or ask Grif, who I believe
has conquered it. Yellow nutsedge is aka Cyperus esculentus.
