As for the nutsedge, it is a comparatively common problem, but I do not
know how many species may be in around, or how many regulations. There are
chemical controls which can be sprayed over irises. One used to be called Manage.
More recently I've heard Basagran mentioned. Check with your local coop
extension office for the latest on managing this pest. Or ask Grif, who I believe
has conquered it. Yellow nutsedge is aka Cyperus esculentus.
