Re: REF: List Subject Tags and Nutsedge

Basagran kills nutsedge. It can be sprayed over the irises without any harm to them. The nutsedge and other grasses will die over a period of about 10 days. Typically, another crop of nutsedge will appear, but sparser, and it can be dispatched in the same way. Don't spray Basagran on barberries, though. I'm convinced it damaged mine. -- Griff

Pat in Dallas lost her tags. Here is a link to where she will--or should-- find them.

As for the nutsedge, it is a comparatively common problem, but I do not
know how many species may be in around, or how many regulations. There are chemical controls which can be sprayed over irises. One used to be called Manage.
More recently I've heard Basagran mentioned. Check with your local coop
extension office for the latest on managing this pest. Or ask Grif, who I believe
has conquered it. Yellow nutsedge is aka Cyperus esculentus.
