Hi Diana!

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced such difficulty trying to grow
TIME TRAVELER (Pinegar, '93) in Texas. It is a very vigorous grower here,
in fact from the way it grew in the Kaspereks' garden you would think it
was part kudzu! Of course, this is it's native ground, so to speak.

It seems that TB iris cultivars that originate in the TX-OK area are often
the ones that have the most difficulty in these parts. Paul Black's
UNDERSEA ADVENTURE might as well have been called "Underground Adventure",
as it never showed much activity above the soil line here. There must be
some climate/environment differences between your area and ours that
present a real challenge to some iris bred in one of these regions when it
is grown in the other.

BTW, based on my own experience, I must demur from your characterization of
TIME TRAVELER as "colorfast". Here it bleaches very badly.

The first snow fell on the mountains this weekend and the first flights of
migrating cranes passed overhead. My one performing rebloomer, HER ROYAL
HIGHNESS (Byers, '89), is still blithely blooming her pretty head off,
however.
