Re: Spring bloom

From: RYFigge@aol.com

I tried to send this direct, but aol wouldn't take it. Do I have to bore
everyone to get a message sent to one person? This is my first to the Land of
OZ so hope it makes it - How I envy you having Spring now - we have a long
wait -- your garden sounds gorgeous - I have about 30 of Blyths' - they were
here for our Spring Regional (Reg.4) and gave a very interesting talk. (I got
the irises probably the last shipment so we would be able to plant them in
our early spring - and about 4 or 5 bloomed again here - the silly things -
they were supposed to rest! but they were gorgeous - just like porcelain) I
want to get some more irises from down under -- a friend who has a commercial
garden and we order together - - I must write Graeme Grosveor for his
catalogue - do you have one, too? I have his book and think it is superb.
Would you do me a favor and keep me posted on what you have - or know about -
that reblooms there? I'm the Pres. of the Reblooming Iris Society and we
have just put out a new CUMULATIVE CHECKLIST FOR REBLOOMING IRISES which gives
the states, countries, and USDA zones in which rebloom has been reported. If
interested, itcan be ordered from out membership chairman for $10.00 plus
$6.00 overseas priority mail (U.S. dollars) Over 2200 cultivars are listed.

P.S. Many years ago I attended Australia's 4th International Iris
meetings - on Margaret Zurbrigg's Iris Tour - it was shortly after my husband
died and I had my 13 year old granddaughter with me -- she now has her own
daughter /children older than that! Tempus really fugits. Did I meet you
then? We landed in Sydney, went to Wellington, Canberra, Adelaide, and the
north island of N.Z. It is the one place in all my travels that I wanted to
visit again! Now I will really sign off before this gets to be a problem, if
it isn't already! RYF
