Bernard, speaking for myself, I'm delighted you asked the question.

We are fans of our Archives here rah rah rah and do like folks to appreciate
them and learn to use them to help themselves, but a disadvantage of people
doing their own research on a topic rather than posting is that the group may
not hear about another incidence of something that is puzzling us and for
which recurrance or geography may be a factor. Like this weirdness with the
color changes.

Also, we really try to help anyone in a legitimate time crunch or an acute
situation, especially if we happen to know that the relevant information in
the Archives is spread over a lot of posts and there is no real obvious search
key word to zoom in on things with. From time to time we've even addressed
some of-topic crisises. The list helped Ian once when his dog had a sudden and
dramatic episode and was tearing up all the plants in the house. People gave
him their best intuitions and advice, and I thought it was kind of neat that
he came to us for help with situation.

So please don't apologize for goodness' sake! We do hope if you learn anything
interesting on this you will let us know. Just because it is impossible and
makes no sense doesn't mean it isn't happening, if you know what I mean, and
even as a mass delusion centered on irises it is not without interest.
