Plenty of pine straw here in SC...and lots of people/books say pine straw adds
acid but last friday night on iris chat someone said there was a lot of new
evidence that it does not make soil more acid. Only thing I can add is what
my mom mentioned when I said we had so many huge mushrooms: she commented that
she believed more acidic soil gets them more often, especially if you have
damp shade which I do have some of. (excuse end of sentance preposition).
Anyway...hope it was some help.
