Evening y'all...

lots of damage done. >>
I would be surprised if you did not have rot everywhere after reading the
above... EVEN in Oklahoma we NEVER mulch! It's too warm here & irises do NOT
need it! If you've had problems with heaving, just pot them up for a little
while before you put them into the ground, as Walter Moores recommends...
When we DO put mulch down, for an occasional AB or AR, we don't do it til
around Christmas & then take it up well before spring comes... Setting
yourself up for disaster if you don't... Even on daylilies when & if we ever
mulch, you don't want to do it til after the first killing frost & then only
when temps are going to be down low for quite a long time... I have
inadvertently left mulch down on hems past the 1st of Feb. only to find
snails, slugs, & army worms taking over in droves under the cozy blanket of
protection that not much of anything needs in our climates...
Perhaps Pat Norvell (Patsiris@aol.com) would comment here as she lives just a
mile from Hooker & Bonnie Nichols, but I envision a similar schreeching
response like mine coming out of Hooker on this...
All for now.... ta-ta....
Kathy Poore, not putting mulch on anything! in Oklahoma City, OK
AIS Region 22, AHS Region 11, Where it's still hot here in USDA Zone 7...
