Re: SIB

Dan Mason wrote that the Siberians he planted in full sun died out while
those in partial shade survived. Dan, living in zone 3 as you do, the
sun ought not to be a problem. The Siberians thrive here in zone 4 in
the sun. From the way you describe things, I'm wondering if it is not a
matter of sun but of moisture. Siberians do like their moisture, in
fact have to be given plenty of water, and they can't be left to get dry
like the bearded iris can. Could it be that this was the problem? The
Sibs are tough, tougher than the beardeds, and they should surely
survive in your area in the sun. After all, consider the name itself.
About your seed questions, I can't answer at all, but wanted to respond
to this. Meanwhile, welcome to the list, and keep asking those kinds of
questions, because several people on this list can help.
