REB
From: "William Soine" <pjsoine@vcu.org>
I am having less rebloom on stalks that bloomed last year, but a good year
for first time rebloomers.
I received an order of rebloomers from Sutton's in late July. They were
wonderful rhizomes, with many increases already present. Some of the
increases also had increases!
Since planting the Sutton rhizomes in late July, I have had blooms on
GILDED, REDELTA, and currently have 4 beautiful blossoms open on a
well-branched stalk of TEA LEAVES. It is really beautiful! Several more
have bloomstalks coming!
In addition to incredible rhizomes, Sutton's was very generous with extras
as well.
My two year old clump of HARVEST OF MEMORIES (Zurbrigg, 1985) sent up 7
bloomstalks this fall! I took one to the Region 4 Fall Meeting last
weekend and it won BEST SPECIMEN OF SHOW (THE QUEEN!). The bloomstalk was
40.5" tall and very gracefully branched.
THANK YOU, LLOYD ZURBRIGG, for introducing such a fine iris!
I also took a many branced stalk of BORN AGAIN (B. Miller, 1978) which
won BEST HORTICULTURAL SPECIMEN OF SHOW (1ST RUNNER UP TO QUEEN). At the
end of the day, BORN AGAIN had 5 blooms open!
Also blooming in my yard:
SEPTEMBER BUTTERCUP
JULY SUNSHINE
GOLDEN ENCORE
LITTLE BLACKFOOT
TAWNY
