Purple based foliage has also always intrigued me.  While visiting Sterling
Innerst's garden in the spring of '97, I saw two different irises that
nearly blew me away.  As was mentioned earlier, his Tennessee Gentleman and
all of his plicata lines have some PBF.

One seedling was:  4016-4  a flower with pink standards, and berry colored
falls on orange ground.  PBF was very evident, but the kicker was that the
stalk was purple over half-way up.  It was quite a sight with these colors.
This was not the darkest.

That honor goes to:  4596-4  a flower with bright yellow ground and berry
plicating that had more heavily colored purple stalks even up to purple
tinged spathes.

I don't know the status of any introduction plans, but both looked really
good at that time.  Would love to see them on the market if they have
continued to be worthy plants.
