Linda Mann has asked me several times about what has rebloomed for me this
year. Because of the extreme heat which started in May and the prolonged
drought, I have had very little in the way of rebloom. Usually, there is a
spurt of rebloom about one month after the initial spring bloom. There was
none this year and no scattered summer rebloom. Sparse rebloom has occurred
in September and October on the following:
BOUNTIFUL HARVEST
CERTAINLY CERTAINLY
GRAPE REPRISE
HEMSTITCHED
LOW HO SILVER
PINK REPRISE
QUEEN DOROTHY
VIOLET REPRISE
WRIGHT FLYER
ZANTHA
I was surprised to see the bloom on ZANTHA, as it has never
rebloomed for me and I was totally unaware that it could. Maybe, I should
remove it from the historical bed and put it in a rebloomer bed to see what
it can do when pampered.
ORANGE HARVEST has budded after being transplanted. OH is quite a
pretty flower but such a slow grower.
Linda mentions HARVEST OF MEMORIES and sometimes SUMMER OLYMPICS.
Actually, these two are non-bloomers for me. They wait too late to send up
their fall stalks, and since nearly every fan buds, there is no bloom in the
spring. I did have rebloom on HOM in my former garden and I can attest to
the beautiful bloom, great stalk and wonderful branching. SM has never
expressed itself in the three years I have been here.
I am afraid that other buds will show up later, only to be cut back
by frost or freeze. The weather man predicts colder weather by
mid-week....from the 80's on Sunday to the 30's on Wednesday....from air
conditioning to heat in three days!
