Tom,
I've always wondered what it must be like to live in places where it
snows!!!! We have the VERY occasional flurry, but its a momentous occasion
and certainly not regular. The idea of being snowed in and stuff like that
is totally alien to me. I remember a message we received earlier this year
on the list that was from Duane Buell. It contained the following passage
(Yes I saved the message... it was definitely worth saving)
My garden usually runs about 2 to 4 degrees colder than what the weather
stations report, and my flowers often bloom a week or two later than
others in close proximity. We are separated from BC by an ice field
that never melts, and I'm located in a valley that has a glacier
at the head. We have ocean on the other side.
This totally blew my mind. The idea of a permanent ice field is
absolutely amazing. We don't have anyh real permanent snow in Australia.
Patches remain through Summer, but there's certainly no cover
Anyhow, just thought you might like an insight from the other end of the
world.
