Yep, good ol warm Tennessee in zone 7b or sometimes 8. Temps in my
frost pocket are at least 5 degrees colder than official temps 50 miles
north in Knoxville, which is in zone 6 or 7. The year we had record
breaking cold, Knoxville (and here) had -25oF temps, the coldest
anywhere in the conterminous USA on that day. Frost on the windshield
everyday since ?Fri. Walter Moores is in the same USDA zone and he
hasn't had even a light frost yet. At least our fall pollen producers
are mostly dead now.
I'm worrying about this drought & going into winter with such dry soil.
The irises never got their usual fall growth period and the most recent
blooms on the HARVEST OF MEMORY clumps out in the gravelly field are
pale, small, and not very pretty. Wondering if I'll have much bloom
next spring (assuming they dont' get frozen).
